Al Ahmadiya School, in katatib (singular kutab: non-official elementary schools); where the teacher who was known then as mutawa - used to meet his students and train them to read the holy quran and teach them the principles of jurisprudence, in addition to the basics of counting and mathematics. the role of those katatib in education continued until the emergence of schools began a new phase;
when otaiba or bin khalaf school was established in (1902) which was considered the first school in the uae, followed by (al timiyah al mahmudiya) school in 1905, and (al ahmadiya school) in 1912 in dubai. that period highlighted the importance of education, and its crucial role in raising awareness and promoting thus, parents were encouraged to send their children to schools, based on their faith in the role of science in the advancement of their society and country. al falahiya school was the first school in abu dhabi; it was established in 1958, followed by al bateen primary school and al nahyaniya primary school in al ain. 1966 witnessed a quantum leap in the field of education when the late sheikh zayed bin sultan al nahyan
assumed the reins of power in abu dhabi. a department for education was established, and the march of education continued to develop until the union was established in 1971, when the uae golden age began, and education sector was its top priority; efforts were being exerted to increase the number of schools and educational and cultural institutions in addition to the establishment of universities.in 1976 the late sheikh zayed bin sultan al nahyan,founder of the uae, established, the uae university in al ain, which was the first integrated national university in the uae in 1976. tracing back the history of the union in 1971, the years that followed the dawn of the uae witnessed great achievements in education and its institutions, the late sheikh zayed bin sultan al nahyan, dedicated great care to the education sector; which he set on top of his list of priorities for establishing the new uae.
universities with scientific and literary majors were established in all cities. now these universities have become pioneering scientific shrines and cultural destinations at the regional as well as the international level; and thousands of young highly qualified calibers have graduated from them; thus contributing in the process of development, advancement and modernization initiated by their predecessors, and creating a brighter tomorrow in the uae history.
